Asfendiou
- 14km from Kos Town
14 kilometres southwest of Kos town, at an altitude of 240 metres on the slopes of Mount Dikaios (Oromedon), lies the small rural village of Lagoudi. This hidden mountainous gem is surrounded by cypress and pine forests, olive groves, scattered oaks, and several water sources gushing from the mountain.
On the way to Lagoudi, there are many picturesque chapels worth visiting. These include Agios Ioannis Theologos, around which the ruins of a Byzantine fortification were found; the chapel of Agia Kyriaki, built on the north side of the village; the chapel of St. George, an old structure dating back to the Post-Byzantine period; and last but not least, the flagship Holy Church of the Virgin Mary with its iconic white-blue dome, celebrated brilliantly on 8th September.
